Wangaratta, Melbourne

Instead of driving to the snowy mountains we had to drive on in direction of Melbourne. On the map we found Wangaratta (We thought it sounded a little bit like Weingartner), a small village about 2/3 of the distance between Canberra and Melbourne.

On the way there we passed Yass (which is almost Jass... We just had to take a picture!).

Our next stop was at the Dog on the Tuckerbox. It's a memorial for a classic Australian story that supposidly happend in the 1850s. (After having some bad luck with his wagon, Bill the Bullocky resigned and decided to have lunch, but his dog was sitting - or worse - on his tuckerbox (Australian for lunchbox).)

And we also stopped at the Ettamogah Pub.

Some call it the Aussie Pub Nr. 1. We had a drink and drove on to Wangaratta which turned out to be a very peaceful and cosy village (but with a lot of mozzies).

Today we arrived in Melbourne. It is on the first impression a really wunderful city and the trams make us think of our home...

Federation Square
We have returned our camper and checked in in a hotel in the city centre. It feels good to have a roof over the head again!

Our hotel is just next to Chinatown.

Now we are at the airport to pick up Oli's parents who land at 20:35... (in 5 minutes..)
